Economic crisis causes a lot trouble; people are losing their job, companies are filing for bankruptcy, mortgage crisis, gasoline prices is increasing rapidly and among others. Many people faced with the need to economize that doesn’t have any idea where to start. By consciously observing your daily habits, you can make changes and spend less.
Conserve Electricity
Utility bills are a major drain on
the budget, especially during the hot summer months. Set your
thermostat at 72 degrees or higher and use fans. Moving air cools the
skin and the fans use far less electricity than your air conditioner.
Change out old-fashioned incandescent bulbs for compact fluorescents.
They use less electricity, generate less heat, and put out fewer
emissions that are harmful to the environment. Use the microwave, slow
cookers, steamers, and electric grills rather than powering up the
stove just to bake a potato
Use Gasoline Wisely
You could take a bus or train to work or walk if your office/destination is just few corners away. Not only can it save your daily gasoline expenses, you are already exercising on your way to your destination and also benefit your health. It may be necessary to drive part of the way, but could then park and bike or walk the remainder of the distance. Cut down on the number of errands you run. Before you leave, you should think ahead of a simple route that would not waste your time and fuel. Minimize stops and turns and combine tasks so that you go out in your car once instead of several times.
Look for Less Expensive Entertainment
Love to play
bowling, billiards or watch a movie? Get to know your regional library.
Good public libraries acquire new books almost as quickly as stores.
You may have to wait a little longer to read that hot best seller, but
in the meantime you’ll discover authors and books you might not have
otherwise noticed. If nothing else, pack a picnic and take the family
to the park. Getting outdoors and spending time together is inexpensive
and builds family ties.
Shop for Food Consciously
Most consumers shop by habit, not by price. Store brands always cost less than name brands and often there’s a little difference in the product. You should also consider using coupons. Many grocery stores are giving away coupons that show cheaper prices if you buy some of their deals and this could add up your savings quickly. Lastly, pay attention to buyer reward deals offering two of one item for a special price. This is a great deal for consumers who have big families. Instead of buying a piece; you could save some money when you buy this deal and serve more for your family. Nevertheless, it is much better if you eat at home because eating out is expensive and not as healthy than you think.
Paying attention is the key to spending less. Watch your habits and make simple changes. You can save money, use your time more wisely, and have more quality time with your family.

After the last decade of spend, spend and spend some more and if you cannot aford it then put it on plastic and continue spending. Then when your credit cards are full up remortgage your home and keep remortgaging - use your home as a cash machine. Crazy! This is now the governemnts philsophy as they continue spending what they cannot afford whilst the rest of us tighten our belts in order to survive.
